Power Key 3:
How To Celebrate Your Brokenness
2 Corinthians 12:8-10
Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses… in hardships… in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
1. What do you do with your brokenness?
Here are the four options in responding to your weaknesses:
a. Flight: bury your brokenness in an addiction.
b. Fight: get angry and bitter.
c. Fantasize: cover up and pretend you’re strong.
d. Feast: accept and celebrate your brokenness.
2. 5 Steps To Celebrate Your Brokenness
Step #1: I acknowledge my brokenness.
Step #2: I share my brokenness with true friends.
Step #3: I seek help and open myself to others’ help.
Step #4: I bless others with my brokenness.
Step #5: I accept the brokenness of others and love them.
Question: Are you the “prodigal son” or the “older brother”?
Action Plan:
How do you deal with your Brokenness? Flight, Fight, Fantasize, or Feast? Out of the five steps, which have you already done? And which have you not yet done?
